The Napa Valley Opera House, built in 1879, had been seismically stabilized but
was mostly a shell when Architectural Resources Group and Landry & Bogan
were retained to design the renovation. The interior was restored to a
close approximation of its original design, including the original windows,
horseshoe balcony and central chandelier. Landry & Bogan worked closely with the
architect to develop the new seating layout for improved seat stagger and
vertical sightlines, assisted with designs for performer and technical support
spaces, lighting positions, orchestra pit configuration and handicapped access
as well as providing complete designs for
theatrical lighting and rigging systems. There is a new and expanded stage
house, backstage support facilities and modern theatrical systems. The
theatre's Grand Opening was in early 2003 as the Margrit Biever Mondavi Opera House.
